The Golden State Warriors appear to have a developing situation on their hands concerning veteran forward Andre Iguodala‘s future with the team.

Things have progressively changed for the pending unrestricted free agent over the last several days as Iguodala has much more planned than originally anticipated. According to Shams Charania of The Vertical, the former NBA Finals MVP will speak to other teams at the start of the free agency period just after midnight on Friday.

Earlier this week, it was reported that seven other teams in the Minnesota Timberwolves, San Antonio Spurs, L.A. Clippers, Philadelphia 76ers, Orlando Magic, Brooklyn Nets and Utah Jazz all are expected to express interest in the 33-year-old.

This could quickly shift things in an interesting path for Iguodala as he could seriously entertain leaving the Warriors despite being a big piece to the puzzle of the team helping them make three straight NBA Finals appearances while earning a pair of NBA titles in the process.

The early indication was that Iguodala would re-sign with the Warriors for a reported $8 to $12 million annual salary on his next deal with the team. However, the increased interest around the league may have pushed him to reconsider automatically staying with Golden State.

This may all simply be a ploy to help drive up the asking price, but it looks like there could be a realistic chance that Iguodala could depart in free agency if the Warriors don't pony up a lucrative contract offer.
