This is likely something that is more common that may be perceived as there may be many more players in the league who are going this route on social media. It's certainly a way to keep track of things without the public knowing that they are operating in that fashion.

The reason Durant is catching plenty of flak for it is that he continues to address all the critics, which has given them a raised platform to conduct more of that type of behavior toward him because he cares enough to respond. It's something that is going to persist as long as he chooses to respond to the naysayers on social media.

In the meantime, it is a strong lesson for not only Durant but other players across the league to learn from moving forward.
