Even after being eliminated in the Western Conference Finals last season, many still expected Kevin Durant to be among the millions of fans, and fellow players as well, to still watch the NBA Finals and see for themselves who will take home the championship.
However, the now-Golden State Warriors forward revealed, via ASAP Sports, that he did not tune in to the series. He then added that after finding out that the Dubs were already leading 3-1, he did not expect the Cleveland Cavaliers to complete an epic comeback, especially with Game 5 on the road.
“Before then, I was on teams that weren't contenders. So it's a little different when you're a contender, I guess. But I didn't watch. But you kind of know the pulse of a team being up 3-1. Obviously if you're up 3-1 in this series, as a fan, and you're coming home, you feel as though that the away team has to have a spectacular game in order for you to win. So last year I didn't put it past Cleveland to have a spectacular rest of the series, and that's what they did.”

Now in the Finals and playing against the Cavs, Durant wants to prove that he made the right decision last summer to bring his talents to Oakland. He also wants to make sure the same won't happen again to the Warriors and allow their opponents to dig themselves out of the deep hole they're already in. He has been a huge factor for his team to be successful in the postseason and is giving them another scoring weapon outside of the three other All-Stars it has.
If the Warriors go on and win the title this year, a possibility remains that they may start a dynasty, as long as they can keep their core intact. Should that happen, Durant doesn't need to watch the Finals on TV, as he will continue to participate in it and be one of the main catalysts for his team.
