Despite having a player option this summer that will allow him to explore free agency once again, Golden State Warriors forward Kevin Durant has already made up his mind and knows which team he wants to play for.
Appearing on the latest episode of the Warriors Plus Minus podcast, the former MVP and four-time scoring champion made it clear that he plans to re-sign with the Dubs, and is also optimistic that his teammates will stay put and continue to build on the winning culture they now have in place.
“I haven't even thought about it that much but I don't plan on going anywhere else.”
“Obviously you want to keep this group together, you want to see how far we can go. I'm sure once the season is over with we can figure out that stuff, everybody, and I'm sure it will all work out for the best.”

It definitely won't be that easy for the organization to keep their lineup intact as Stephen Curry, Andre Iguodala, and Shaun Livingston are all slated to become free agents come summertime. With the reigning back-to-back MVP expected to demand a very lucrative salary, it will leave the team committing majority of their cap space to their stars. It will be very difficult to maneuver their players' salaries in order to re-sign all three of them.
However, with arguably their best player making his intentions known as early as now, it gives the Warriors ample time to prepare for the scenarios they will face this summer. His words could also help his teammates consider taking a possible pay cut in order to keep playing together and contend for more championships in the future.
