Stephen A. Smith has always been one of the most vocal media personalities with his comments often raising numerous eyebrows. Regardless if his statements are accurate or way off, it's hard to not hear what he has to say.

When Kevin Durant decided to switch sides last summer and left Oklahoma City for Golden State, Stephen A. Smith notoriously called it as the weakest move by a superstar he has ever seen, summing up the thoughts of fans and pundits alike – excluding those who love the Warriors.

Fast forward to the aftermath of Game 1 of the NBA Finals which Durant's Warriors won over the Cavaliers. His biggest supporter, and the person he alluded to as the ‘real MVP', his mother, Wanda Durant, defended her son in an appearance at ESPN's First Take.

“I thought that was quite harsh,” Wanda said in response to his comments. “Like, who are you Stephen A. Smith to come at my boy like that? When he came to ESPN, was that a weak move for him? He joined some more heavy hitters to up his career, to do what is best for him, and no one called him weak for that, so why call my son weak for doing the same thing he did?”

These comments absolutely hit the core of the debate. Kevin Durant's decision to go to the best possible team is perfectly understandable on a purely basketball point of view, but it did draw certain things that were borne out of numerous variables that surrounded the whole situation.

All those talk are now irrelevant, because Durant is ever as close to winning a ring in Oakland, or even more, which, in the end, will define the former MVP as a very successful superstar, future Hall of Famer, and possibly a legend of the game.
