Monday night's post-game locker room debacle brought a lot of frustrations out of Draymond Green, namely Kevin Durant's handling of his free agency — one that has tired not only him, but the rest of his Golden State Warriors teammates as well.

According to Marcus Thompson II of The Athletic, Durant's teammates are prepared for him to leave after this season and are just hoping the cloud of the melodrama surrounding his imminent departure comes to an end soon.

Several players in the locker room believe Durant could have ended this free agent circus by just saying how much he loves playing with the Warriors and his teammates and leave it at that — even if he chooses to depart in the offseason.

Another possible, but less-effective option would be to not take questions about his impending free agency and force the media to focus on this season (something much easier said than done) as a way of protecting his teammates.

“Durant’s free agency has been a low-key issue with the players,” wrote Thompson. “It registered as a small irritation. The burden of talking about it, reading about it, hearing about it, grew heavier in Year 3 of the Durant Experience. Players like Green and Klay Thompson, who also have free agency pending, have been lumped into the frenzy. Both have declared they want to stay with the Warriors. But because of Durant’s uncertainty, the future of the dynasty is in the air and such leads to speculation Green and Thompson have to address.”

Green's blunt mention of it during his locker room tirade was just the tipping point into something the rest of the locker room has been feeling, but didn't dare to speak up on.
