Kevin Durant has faced a major drop-off from last year's popularity contest after being the incoming draft class' favorite NBA player for three straight years, dipping an alarming 24 percent from last season during Tuesday's 2017-18 NBA rookie survey.

Durant only received a couple of votes and managed a 5.6 percent of them, tied with teammate Draymond Green and trailing James Harden (6.5 percent), Kawhi Leonard (8.3 percent), Russell Westbrook (19.4 percent), and fan favorite LeBron James (31.5 percent).

Fittingly enough, the top five vote recipients were MVP candidates this past season and three of them, including Durant, have been named the Most Valuable Player at some point in their careers.
Durant won last year with 29.7 percent of the vote, but surrendered his fan-favorite status to James, who had not topped the list since 2012.
While the Washington D.C. native is in a much better basketball situation than a year ago, his popularity has taken a clear dip since being the face of the Thunder — choosing instead to build around championship success than mass appeal.
