Golden State Warriors veteran small forward Andre Iguodala says he only wants to continue to play in the NBA if he's “enjoying the game of basketball.”

Iguodala has one year left on his contract with the Warriors after this season. The 2014 Finals MVP admits he's “close to the end” of his career.

“I have a pretty good sense of like… well obviously I’m close to the end, being in the league 15 seasons, you know closing out on my 15th season,” Iguodala told Patrick Murray of Forbes. “I definitely only want to play if I’m enjoying the game of basketball. I think you always hear that true purists, whether it be artists, musicians, professions like that, for a purist they get out when they’re not enjoying the game… So for me, it’s just if I’m still enjoying it I’ll play, if not, you know this could be my last year.

“I think I’m in a good situation, I’m on a perfect team for me to be able to not have my body be worn down with too many practices, minutes in the game, the age I’m at. We’ve got more data, technology, in how do you handle the body. Stretching, training, conditioning programs – we have a good staff… I’m in a good spot right now, so go at it day-by-day.”

Iguodala is scheduled to make $17 million next season. The Warriors are playing in their fifth straight NBA Finals this year and looking to win their third straight title and fourth ring in five years.

During the regular season, Iguodala averaged 5.7 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.2 assists. As he does every year, the versatile forward has elevated his game for the Warriors in the postseason. Iggy is putting up 10.1 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.9 assists in the 2019 playoffs.
