Kevin Durant became the 32nd player and the second-youngest to reach the 22,000-point milestone, doing so with his second shot of the game, a wide-open wing 3-pointer only five minutes into Thursday's contest against the Houston Rockets:

The Golden State Warriors forward is the ninth-fastest player to reach that mark, doing so in 810 games, as well as reaching that very milestone as the second-youngest player to do so at 30 years, 96 days old:

The milestone comes with a sour taste, as Durant's 26 points in the game weren't enough to keep the Rockets from stealing a game at home or stop James Harden from setting up his own shop of pyrotechnics in Oracle Arena, giving them their sixth loss at home this season.
According to Basketball-Reference, Durant is 172 points away from surpassing Clyde “The Glide” Drexler and 441 points away from passing Dwyane Wade, having already soared over legends like Larry Bird and Gary Payton earlier this season.
Only in his 12th season, many believe Durant could reach 30,000 points by the time he decides to call it a career, joining the select company of seven others: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Karl Malone, Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Wilt Chamberlain and Dirk Nowitzki.
Durant is a 27.2 points-per-game career scorer, and barring any health setback, should be able to reach the mark rather easily, already boasting five seasons scoring 2,000 or more points.
