Before trotting out their best win of the season in terms of victory margin, the Golden State Warriors were shaken by a news report only minutes before tip-off. Kevin Durant informed Stephen Curry of the death pronouncement of friend Nipsey Hussle, a Los Angeles-based rapper who was shot six times in front of his clothing store in South L.A. and died after being rushed to the hospital.
Curry had developed a newfound friendship with the Grammy-nominated rapper, and soon was forced to mourn his loss while taking on his hometown Hornets:
This was the second death in the last 10 days the Warriors had to mourn, as Kevin Durant himself played through the death of longtime friend Cliff Dixon, who he considered an “adopted brother.”

Backup point guard Quinn Cook, who grew up in the same area as Durant, also considered Dixon a good friend — yet played alongside Durant on March 21 against the Indiana Pacers — a game which resulted in one of the Warriors' best all-around efforts in this 2018-19 season.
The clip, which shows Durant informing Curry of Hussle's death, only shows the deep ties between NBA players and entertainers, one that has only grown over the years.
Curry then expressed his sorrow and condolences for the rapper's family and friends in a postgame interview.
