Golden State Warriors sharpshooter Klay Thompson isn't looking to sign with any other team in the near future.

Being one of the first players eligible for free agency in 2019, the 6-foot-7 marksman told reporters he was looking forward to finishing his career with the team that initially drafted him.

“Absolutely,” Thompson said, according to Mark Medina of the San Jose Mercury News. “I’ve always said that. Playing for one team your whole career is definitely special. Only so many guys have done it in professional sports, so it’ll be a goal of mine. Hopefully it all works out.”

In the business that the NBA has become over the last couple of decades, very few are able to play with only one team for their entire careers, with the likes of Dirk Nowitzki and Nick Collison being two of the few active players to do so for over 10-plus seasons.

Thompson is in the midst of his seventh year in the league and his fourth straight as an NBA All-Star, years that have been engulfed with glory and endless accolades, topped with two championships in the last three seasons.

Yet the prospect of free agency is very real, with his hometown Los Angeles Lakers likely in the mix for his services once his contract is up, as the Warriors front office will have to make key decisions over the course of each offseason.

“It’s so far away,” Thompson said of his pending free agency. “Anything I can do to stay with the Warriors is first and foremost. God willing, it happens. If not, I don’t even think about that.”

The Warriors front office have shown him just how important he is, reportedly turning down a straight swap for Paul George this past offseason.

“He’s certainly shown his worth here,” Warriors general manager Bob Myers said of Thompson. “It’s pretty undeniable how important he is. There’s not a lot of guys that can do what he does and be as humble and selfless as he is.”

While it'll prove challenging to keep him with three other All-Stars demanding a large chunk of cash, both sides seem pretty committed to making it happen for the time being.
