The Golden State Warriors will once again enter the start of the preseason with another championship in mind. Yet despite the several long postseasons played throughout the last four years, Stephen Curry and company will come in hot and ready for training camp — something coach Steve Kerr is likely to tone down.

The years have gone by fast for this Warriors roster, and what was once a young and spry bunch of up-and-coming stars is now a team of bona fide All-Stars with the most minutes under their legs than most others in the NBA.

According to Marcus Thompson II of The Athletic, Curry and the rest of the starters will come in hot for this training camp, but none of them will be tasked with proving anything in the early get-go.

“The good news for Curry: he will get to chill as much as he wants during camp,” wrote Thompson. “The Warriors, coming off of back-to-back championships, aren’t going to push their stars in October. They’re just happy they don’t have to go to China again and lose their legs for the first month or two of the season.”

The Warriors will instead focus on giving their other pieces as much playing time as possible during the preseason, the likes of Jordan Bell, aspiring starting center Damian Jones, and rookie Jacob Evans.

This focus on honing the supporting pieces will be accompanied by rest for the starters and some key veterans like Andre Iguodala and Shaun Livingston, who should be feeling the wear and tear of four-straight long postseasons.

“Don’t be surprised if the Warriors encourage Curry to take days off, even though he probably is planning to come in going hard for camp. Curry is in his 30s now. This will be his 10th NBA season.

He won’t be alone. Kevin Durant, Draymond Green, Andre Iguodala, Shaun Livingston and rehabbing center Boogie Cousins could all be on the late-start program. It’s questionable whether they can get Klay Thompson to throttle down.”

The Warriors have lost their last two season-openers, but as they have proven over the last two years — no championship is won in October.
