Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry has been invited to participate in the NBA 3-Point Contest at All-Star Weekend in his hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina, league sources told Yahoo Sports.
The league is still rounding out its list of contestants for the Feb. 16 event, sources said.
Stephen Curry won the 2015 3-point contest which took place at Madison Square Garden in New York. If the two-time league MVP accepts the invitation, it will be his sixth 3-point contest.
In 37 games this season for the Warriors, Stephen Curry is averaging 29.5 points, 5.2 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game. The sharpshooter is shooting 49.1 percent from the field, 44.4 percent from beyond the arc and 93.0 percent from the free-throw line.
Curry is arguably the greatest 3-point shooter in NBA history. He will eventually pass Hall of Famer Ray Allen for most 3-pointers in league history.
This season, Stephen Curry has made the second-most 3-pointers and he's sixth in the league in 3-point percentage. The 10-year pro is a career 43.7 percent shooter from beyond the arc.
