This award might mean a little bit more to Stephen Curry. The Golden State Warriors superstar received the Jackie Robinson Award from the NAACP for his work in bringing attention to women's causes along with his campaigning for social justice.
Curry was also noted by the NAACP in receiving the award for his work on educating during the pandemic when he held a question-and-answer forum on YouTube last year with Dr. Anthony Fauci. The forum with Dr. Fauci was widely circulated and spread across social media to provide guidance and answers during the early stages of the pandemic.
The award is named after the late, great Jackie Robinson, who broke the racial barrier in baseball back in 1947. The award was also given to the WNBA Players Association, the first time the award has been given to a group instead of an individual.
Long known for changing the landscape of the NBA with his long-range 3-point shots, Curry has used his platform and fame to bring awareness to causes that are close to him. This award isn't a surprise to any who know Curry.
