In his eight years of playing in the NBA, DeMarcus Cousins has always had the reputation of being a bad locker room guy. There was never a question about his talent or what he brings to the table basketball-wise but there was a sense that his attitude affects his team negatively.

This summer, Cousins was acquired by the defending champion Golden State Warriors in a move that shook the entire NBA. So far, the reviews from his teammates and coaches have been great. In an interview with SFGate, his teammates and coaches talk about how Cousins has made a positive impact since he came in:

ā€œPeople might see him a certain way, but heā€™s real chill to me,ā€ third-year center Damian Jones said. ā€œHeā€™s been great to have around, honestly.ā€

ā€œHeā€™s real cool,ā€ second-year center Jordan Bell said. ā€œPeople paint a picture about him because he yells a lot. Heā€™s just like Draymond (Green). He yells, but heā€™s a real cool dude.ā€

ā€œWeā€™ve been really happy with how heā€™s been a mentor to the younger guys,ā€ head coach Steve Kerr said of Cousins, who hasnā€™t spoken to reporters since media day because he is sidelined by an injury. ā€œWhenever they need something, heā€™s there to help.ā€

It's nice to see Cousins being a mentor to guys like Bell and Jones. Those two guys, together with Kevon Looney, will probably be sharing the bulk of the minutes at center while they wait for Cousins to fully recover from his injury.

Cousins is highly confident that his decision of joining the Warriors is the right one as the Warriors are definitely the favorites to win it all this year. In an article the he himself wrote for the Players' Tribune, he wrote,

ā€œA year from now, looking back, I know this is going to be the best decision I ever made.
