With some major changes in the league's format seemingly underway, one personality that appears to be on board with the whole idea is Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr. According to the 54-year-old, he believes that the idea of integrating an in-season tournament would not be such a bad idea.

“I’m open minded about it,” Kerr said, via Connor Letourneau of the San Francisco Chronicle. “I think the league is always looking to improve its product, and I think it’s a good idea to explore these things.”

One of the proposed changes include an in-season tournament, which according to reports, will provide eligibility for all 30 teams in the league. Each team's regular season record will determine their ranking for the tournament, with the top eight seeds participating in a knockout-format tournament. The single-elimination tourney will be set to culminate in December, and more importantly, a proposed prize money of $1 million per player is also being discussed.

For his part, Kerr appears to be open to the rather radical changes that are set to take place. Unlike others, the three-time NBA champion coach does not seem to think that this shift in format will adversely affect the overall performance of his, or any team in the league for that matter.

To be clear, however, nothing has made official yet, and these proposed changes are still in its early age of inception. Nevertheless, with commissioner Adam Silver serving as the driving force behind the proposal, it would not be surprising if these are enforced sooner rather than later.
