Golden State Warriors superstar Kevin Durant can opt out of his contract this summer, and for the first time during his three years with the Warriors (all of which have included player options), there seems to be a legitimate possibility that Durant could depart.
After Warriors big man Draymond Green said that the rest of the NBA can't wait for the Warriors to break up, Tracy McGrady said on ESPN the jump that the league will benefit if Durant leaves.

This absolutely makes sense, as there would unquestionably be more parity if Durant takes his talents elsewhere. Take this season, for example. The Warriors went through a 29-game stretch where they went just 16-13, but now they have won eight games in a row to reclaim the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference after fans and media pundits everywhere were calling them “vulnerable.”
Article Continues BelowNow, to be fair, this is probably the weakest iteration of the Warriors in the Durant era, but that's not really saying much.
This is still clearly the best team in the league, and barring injuries or any out-of-nowhere trades, the Warriors will likely win the West this season. As a matter of fact, a legitimate argument can be made that their stiffest competition will come from an Eastern Conference team once they reach the finals.
Golden State has been to the finals each of the last four years, winning three championships. However, with Durant and Klay Thompson both set to hit free agency this summer and Green's contract expiring after next year, the Warriors could very well be in their twilight days.
