Kevin Durant pulled off a shocker with his decision to join the Golden State Warriors in the summer of 2016. Controversies and rumors have since surrounded the superstar's bold move, as almost everybody didn't expect him to leave Russell Westbrook and the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Andre Iguodala's business partner, Rudy Cline-Thomas, sat down with Durant and his business partner, Rich Kleiman, to have a quick question and answer session. Cline-Thomas first revealed that Durant hinted to him back after the 2016 Western Conference Finals that a move to the Warriors was coming, and later Kleiman responded:
“Well I just learned that he told you in May, before free agency — which is hardly factual, which we'll have to clear up with Marc Spears and everybody here (laughter) — no way did that happen, but cool… (laughter).”
Kleiman obviously emphasized mentioning Marc J. Spears, who said Durant was likely staying in Oklahoma City. In his article for The Undefeated back then, he wrote:
Don’t stress too hard, Thunder fans. Yes, Durant, 27, is the star of this year’s NBA free agency reality show. But barring an incredible sales job, several friends and business colleagues close to the 2014 NBA MVP expect him to return to Oklahoma City for at least another year.

Spears' assumption was mostly based on this statement made by Durant's undisclosed close friend:
“His decision is 90 percent made. It would take an amazing sales pitch to change it,” said one of Durant’s longtime friends.
Of course, no team was mentioned here. But back then, people could not comprehend the possibility of Durant joining a stacked Warriors team who just beat the Thunder in the playoffs. So, everyone concluded that the “90 percent” mention would mean that Durant would re-sign with the Thunder.
But Durant wound up with the Warriors, and they have since won two championships. With the Warriors pulling off another coup with the DeMarcus Cousins signing this offseason, expect the Bay Area to have another championship parade come June next year.
