The Golden State Warriors have signed free agent swingman Michael Gbinije, per RealGM’s transactions page. The specific details of the deal haven’t been disclosed, but the contract will likely be for only one year and will not be fully guaranteed.

The 25-year-old Gbinije was drafted No. 49 overall in last year’s draft by the Detroit Pistons. He scored a total of just four points and grabbed three rebounds in 32 minutes over nine NBA games as a rookie. He spent more time playing on the Pistons’ G-League affiliate, the Grand Rapids Drive, averaging 12.0 PPG, 4.3 RPG, and 1.9 SPG in 16 games.

Michael Gbinije was waived by the Pistons earlier this offseason before his contract could be guaranteed for next season.

It is highly unlikely that Gbinjie holds down a roster spot in Golden State, especially with the Warriors looking set at shooting guard. They already have Nick Young and Patrick McCaw behind Klay Thompson in the depth chart.

Instead, Gbinije will likely play alongside recent Warriors signing Georges Niang in Golden State's G-League affiliate, the Santa Cruz Warriors, for the 2017-18 season.
