Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James' source of inspiration for this year's playoffs run comes in the form of a Malcolm X autobiography. The 35-year-old All-Star recently opened up about his book choice for this postseason, and LeBron explained why Malcolm X's story still remains relevant to this very day.
James shared his insights following LA's 111-88 blowout victory against the Portland Trail Blazers on Thursday:
Lakers’ LeBron James on Malcolm X, whose autobiography he is reading for the first time: “A very smart man. His words & what was going on in the 1960s is what’s going on today, still. A powerful-minded gentleman. I wish I had the opportunity to meet him.” pic.twitter.com/tF9mBQWX2Q

Clearly, LeBron is referencing the battle for social justice that continues to rage on to this very day. James committed to continue talking about the socio-economic issues that have griped the nation, and he has delivered on his promise ever since the restart.
Article Continues BelowLeBron did not have the best of games on Thursday, finishing with 10 points on 4-of-11 shooting, along with six rebounds, seven assists, and two steals. James turned the rock over six times on the evening, and he went 0-of-3 from distance.
Thankfully for him, Lakers star big man Anthony Davis was on point against Portland. The 6-foot-10 forward/center was his usually dominant self, putting up 31 points on 13-of-21 shooting, along with 11 rebounds, three assists, a steal, and a block in just 29 minutes of play.
It is worth noting that Blazers superstar Damian Lillard was forced to exit this one with a dislocated finger. The bubble MVP finished with 18 points, three rebounds, and an assist after logging 30 minutes of action. Lillard's status for Game 2 on Saturday remains up in the air at this point, and his potential absence will serve as a huge blow for the Blazers and their chances to upset the Lakers in this first-round series.
