It was a tense night at the Smoothie King Center on Wednesday as Anthony Davis made his return to New Orleans. Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James is no stranger to homecomings like this. And after the game, James shared his thoughts on the matter, noting that there were still some cheers amid all the boos.

“I mean they still love them [in New Orleans] you heard a lot of cheers as well…you heard some boos obviously, some people boo just because they don't even know why they just want to be a part of the spectacle.”

As expected, Davis got booed every time the basketball was in his hands. And it was pretty obvious that the Lakers' gameplan was to give Davis the ball early. It's been a mission of every player to play extremely well against their former team. And the Lakers were willing to give Davis a helping hand in this regard.

In their 114-110 victory, Davis dropped 41 points and nine rebounds. He was 15-of-30 from the field, 1-of-4 from deep, and 10-of-12 from the free-throw line.

It was a thrilling game towards the end. The Pelicans led by as much as 16 points but the Lakers made a push thanks to several buckets by Kyle Kuzma who finished with 16 points including 4-of-4 from deep. Davis' game-winning steal was the cherry on top in his successful return to Louisianna.
