Los Angeles Lakers star Russell Westbrook has already achieved a childhood dream in his hometown even before suiting up for the Purple and Gold.

Westbrook threw the first pitch for the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday and he was absolutely ecstatic about his latest memorable moment. He posed for dozens of pictures with family members, friends, and players, including one with Dodgers star Mookie Betts (or did Betts ask Westbrook for the snap?).

After the entire experience, Westbrook posted on Twitter that it was another dream that came true for him, punctuating it with his catchphrase “Why Not?”

The 32-year-old Westbrook was born in Long Beach, California, just a half-hour drive away from the famed Dodger Stadium. Since entering the NBA, he's been seen watching Dodgers games several times but was never invited to throw the first pitch. That ended on Sunday against the New York Mets as he took the mound to the delight of the Dodgers fans.

Curiously, LeBron James hasn't been given the honor so far, despite being with the Lakers since 2018. Aside from Westbrook, only Anthony Davis among the players on the current roster has thrown the first pitch for the Dodgers.

It's clear that Westbrook has already been thoroughly enjoying his time back in his hometown, where he also played college hoops as a star for UCLA.

But it's not all fun and games for Russell Westbrook in the offseason as he's already been putting in the work together with LeBron James, as they hope to lead the Lakers back into the NBA Finals.
