Nah he tweakin.

If you've been on Instagram any time after noon on Wednesday, you've seen this phrase in the comments. It's all over the place, flooding everything from this Lakers star LeBron James' two-day-old post, to Warriors guard Stephen Curry's comments:

What is this trend, though, exactly?

According to 94.5 WPST, Lil Nas X is to blame.

Following his release of a limited edition shoe dubbed “the Satan shoe” that had blood infused into it, the shoes sold out almost immediately and the rapper received tons of backlash.

A couple months later, legendary skater Tony Hawk released limited edition skateboards with blood infused into them, to which Lil Nas X retorted on Twitter:

“now that tony hawk has released skateboards with his blood painted on them, and there was no public outrage, are y’all ready to admit y’all were never actually upset over the blood in the shoes? and maybe u were mad for some other reason?”

Yeah, let's not dive too far into that.

Anyways, Lil Nas X also took to Instagram to voice his frustration as well, as he commented “nah he tweakin” under a post from @rap on Instagram describing Hawk's decision to sell skateboards with blood infused into them, to much less public outcry.

Now, that phrase has completely taken over Instagram.

No matter where you go, masses of comments sections of every verified page on Instagram are filled with some variation of “Nah he tweakin”. Allegedly, the majority of these comments are being written by bots, which may or may not be true.

But if there's one things social media's taught us, it's that we should never underestimate the public's power to create mass movements. Disregarding however dumb the “nah he tweakin” trend may be, it's a testament to our ability to unite as people.
