The Memphis Grizzlies faced off against the Washington Wizards on Tuesday night and reigning Rookie of the Year Ja Morant popped off for a special career achievement.

The 21-year-old Morant finished with an impressive line of 35 points on 11-of-18 shooting from the field, five rebounds, and 10 assists. Per NBC Sports Edge, it marked the first time that Morant registered a 30-10 game in his young career. Beyond that, the 35 points are also Morant’s highest total this season since the Grizzlies' opener against the San Antonio Spurs.

Morant’s career has started out strong as he scooped up the Rookie of the Year trophy over presumptive favorite Zion Williamson, who was drafted one spot ahead of him in the 2019 NBA Draft.

This season, while Morant has improved in a number of categories, his numbers are not quite as impressive as they were in his rookie campaign, where he almost led the Grizzlies to the NBA Playoffs as the no. 8 seed in the tough Western Conference. The former Murray State standout, however, was hampered by a left ankle injury early this season, forcing him to miss eight games.

Though there was a push among Grizzlies fans, Morant was snubbed in the upcoming NBA All-Star Game. Williamson, on the other hand, will make his first All-Star appearance with current averages of 25.5 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 3.4 assists on an incredible 65.3 true shooting percentage.

Still, Ja Morant has all the tools to be an All-Star in the near future. His athleticism, vision, and toughness will only bode him well. But in the meantime, he's busy making personal milestones.
