When it comes to Memphis Grizzlies star point guard Mike Conley, injuries continue to be a major focal point of his career. On Tuesday, Conley opened up about his frustration with his nagging heel injury. According to an article by Ronald Tillery of The Commercial Appeal, Conley is deadset on making a speedy recovery in order to resume basketball as early as late May.
“That was the point of emphasis,” Conley said on Tuesday. “We wanted to try to get it done so I could have a normal summer.”
Conley is slated to soon undergo a procedure that will greatly reduce bone protrusion in his left heel, something he says he's dealt with for the past three years. The team insists that Conley will be healthy before the Grizzlies open training camp in the fall.

“I’ve had this for three years. All the way back three years ago one of the doctors said eventually you’ll need to have this heel shaved down,” Conley said. “I didn’t want to do it. I wanted to exhaust every option before going to that extent.
This really sucks for a player of Conley's caliber, who has been with the Grizzlies' organization ever since they selected with the fourth overall pick in the 2007 NBA Draft out of Ohio State.
In limited action this 2017-18 season, the 30-year-old Conley put up some pretty solid numbers before he was sidelined. With just 12 starts until his last game played back in the middle of November, Conley was averaging 17.1 points, 4.1 assists, and 2.3 rebounds per contest.
