The 22-year-old is coming off a stellar season that saw him set career highs across the board with 22.9 points, 8.8 rebounds, 5.4 assists, 1.6 steals, and 1.9 blocks per game. He also became only the fifth player in league history to lead his team in each of those five categories while being the first to place in the top 20 in each of those respective categories in a single season. This all helped him earn his first All-Star selection and an All-NBA Second Team nod.
Antetokounmpo could see himself become prominently mentioned as part of the MVP conversation if he's able to build off his breakout year while leading the Bucks to one of the top records in the Eastern Conference. This would likely require him to once again set new career highs in nearly every category, possibly pushing toward averaging a triple-double.
It wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility for Antetokounmpo to accomplish this feat, but there is plenty of competition for the MVP award, with the likes of Russell Westbrook, James Harden, Kawhi Leonard, LeBron James, and Kevin Durant. Ultimately, he would need to experience another stellar season that goes well beyond what he did last year.
