It has been a long time since the Minnesota Timberwolves had a sustained level of success like they are experiencing now. Although they did make the playoffs a few years ago, that team was short-lived. This one, which is built primarily on young payers, could grow into something special.
After taking down the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Timberwolves secured their sixth straight win. The franchise hadn't seen a winning streak that long since Kevin Garnett's MVP-winning season of 2003-04.

Malik Beasley played a huge part in the victory, making a franchise-record 11 3-pointers (on just 17 attempts) to score 33 points. No one else in NBA history has ever recorded that many points in a game where they only scored on triples. Minnesota saw five other players score on double figures in the victory.
Karl Anthony-Towns only contributed 13 points and 11 rebounds but he is still a huge reason why Minnesota is shining right now. The franchise's lead star spent time learning from Garnett his rookie year and is now putting his skills to use by leading the Timberwolves firmly into playoff territory.
With another young star in Anthony Edwards and a high-level supporting cast of Beasley, D'Angelo Russell, Patrick Beverley, Jarred Vanderbilt and Jaden McDaniels, Minnesota is built to be a playoff contender for years to come.
Minnesota is 38-29, which is good for only seventh place in the Western Conference. They're in the play-in tournament territory, though they are several games ahead of the other teams in there. They have what it takes to surprise teams in the playoffs thanks to their depth and star power.
