Damian Lillard to the New York Knicks? While it may not seem likely it is certainly a possibility. Lillard has preached his loyalty to the Portland Trail Blazers but it might be time for him to move on. The Blazers currently sit in 7th place and they haven't been able to put a good enough team around Lillard.

New York would be a perfect option if Lillard is moved, per Marc Berman of the New York Post. They are making a return to the playoffs behind star Julius Randle. With the number of draft picks and high cap space the Knicks have, they are in a great position to trade for Lillard if made available.

Dame also has a strong relationship with assistant coach Johnnie Bryant, who both have Oakland roots. This could also play a part in luring Lillard away from Portland.

He could instantly elevate the Knicks alongside Randle. The position New York lacks the most is point guard and bringing in one of the best in the league would make for a scary team to face out east.

The rivalry between the Knicks and the Brooklyn Nets would flourish with this move. Could you imagine the battles between Lillard and Julius Randle vs. Kevin Durant, James Harden, and Kyrie Irving? It would be a highly anticipated matchup every time they faced off.

The Knicks should find some way to make this trade happen. In Portland, it is clear that Lillard and CJ Mccollum have a ceiling together and will not make a championship run. However, Lillard paired with the budding star of Randle could be a tough out in any playoff series.

If New York is able to acquire Lillard, they will instantly become a championship contender.
