For the Oklahoma City Thunder, there is a lot to smile about lately. With their 121-112 victory over the Washington Wizards on Thursday night at Chesapeake Energy Arena, the Thunder (28-20) won their sixth straight game to tie a season-long streak. Star point guard Russell Westbrook played out of his mind against the Wizards and his teammate, star forward Carmelo Anthony, admitted that he was a little bit in awe.
In a postgame interview with Thunder beat writer Royce Young of ESPN and other members of the media, Anthony opened up about Westbrook taking over the game with his superb 46-point outburst.
“Sometimes you get caught staring a little bit and I've gotta remind myself, ‘I am on a team with somebody else that can do that,'” Anthony said of Westbrook. “Do some of the things that you've been doing or you're capable of doing or you've been doing throughout your whole career.”
This was a season-high in scoring for Westbrook, as the reigning MVP and seven-time All-Star put up a highly impressive stat line with 19-of-29 shooting from the field, six assists, six rebounds and two steals.

Anthony, who had a rough night for his standards, had just 13 points on 4-of-11 shots from the field. Luckily, the Thunder forward is teammates with Westbrook.
“For me to be on the same side as that and not have to go after it every night and just kind of take what the other team is giving us, it's a beauty to watch,” Anthony said. “Especially when it's working, when it's clicking, especially now when we're winning games.”
In search of a seventh straight win, the Thunder will travel to take on the struggling Detroit Pistons at Little Caesars Arena. The Pistons, who ended the month of November with a 14-6 record, are now 22-24 and have lost six straight contests.
