In the coming weeks, four-time league MVP LeBron James is expected to hit the open market as an unrestricted free agent where several teams are expected to pursue him.
One of the teams that haven't exactly been in the picture has been the Oklahoma City Thunder due to their current situation with the focus centered on retaining All-Star forward Paul George, who has a chance to become a free agent this summer. However, an Oklahoma City company led by their sales coordinator Jason Reince has made the move to put up a billboard sign making a pitch to get James to join the Thunder this offseason, according to Brett Dawson of the Newsok.com.
Reince is the digital and national sales coordinator for Lamar Advertising in Oklahoma City, and he’s the man behind electronic billboard displays you might see on Friday, reading in white writing against a dark background, “#LeBron2OKC.”
It’s a recruiting pitch to LeBron James, the Cleveland Cavaliers star and presumptive free agent.
“I really wanted to do ‘LeBron2AnywhereButTheWarriors,’” Reince said. “As long as he doesn’t go there, that’s fine.”

This isn't the first billboard sign that has been used to help make a pitch to James as it has been the case in both Philadelphia for the 76ers and Los Angeles for the Lakers. The 33-year-old is the biggest name that could be available this summer on the open market that his addition has the ability to change the landscape of the franchise.
The Thunder are currently in no position to offer James a lucrative deal via free agency with their attention first on keeping George while Carmelo Anthony is expected to opt into the final year of his deal that is worth $27.9. The only other potential feasible option would be a trade, but even that seems like a pipe dream.
Nonetheless, this shows that there is plenty of interest in James around the country from fans to see him join their local team this summer.
