Following a rough start through the first couple of games of the season, the Golden State Warriors have begun to hit their stride over the last few weeks to currently boast the best record in the Western Conference.
This has all led to an intriguing early-season matchup against the Boston Celtics on the road on Thursday night at TD Garden. Prior to the contest, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr gave a witty response concerning the importance of the game, according to Jared Weiss of Celtics Wire.
Steve Kerr: “Huge game. The fate of the universe rests on the shoulders of the Boston Celtics and Golden State Warriors.”

Kerr was clearly giving a sarcastic answer to the question to loosen the tension a bit. In reality, the game provides an early test for both teams to gauge where they are and what adjustments need to be made. The Celtics are hitting their stride after becoming the first team in league history to win 13 straight games after a 0-2 start to the season.
Meanwhile, the Warriors have seven consecutive games behind their explosive offense that leads the league in points (119.6), field goal percentage (51.9), 3-point percentage (41.2), and assists (31.3) per game. Golden State will also welcome the return of Stephen Curry, who sat out Tuesday's game against the Orlando Magic.
Simply put, Thursday's game could be an enticing matchup between two teams that could face each other come next June.
