The possibility of LeBron James joining the Golden State Warriors has caught the entire NBA’s attention. Naturally, the parties involved are going to be receiving questions regarding the recent rumor that James would listen to what Golden State has to offer this summer.

But Warriors coach Steve Kerr is having none of it.

Or at least he’s not fielding questions to avoid getting fined by the league office.

Melissa Rohlin of the Bay Area News Group quoted Kerr in an interview when pressed about the possibility of coaching the four-time NBA MVP on his squad.

“Kerr on if he'd like to coach LeBron James: ‘You're really going to ask that? Do you want me to get my checkbook out? I could just make it out to Adam Silver? Or to the NBA? You know that's illegal. I'm not answering that.’”

Kerr is a smart man and he knows that if he were to answer the reporter’s question he’ll be fined for tampering. At the same time, Kerr knows that once he answers any question remotely close to it, he’ll never hear the end of it from this point ‘til James finally signs on the dotted line for whichever team he chooses.

And he’s probably heard from the Warriors’ front office on how to deal with this.

Even the Warriors star and James’ friend Kevin Durant had to react to the rumor knowing full well that he was in the same boat less than two years ago.

““Bullshit,” Durant said. “Bullshit. But in this league, just like a couple of years, me coming here, nobody would’ve thought it’d happen.”

James is expected to be an unrestricted free agent again this summer after he declines the $35.6 million player option in his contract.
