Markieff Morris was embarrassed by how his team was manhandled by the Utah Jazz, who are slowly getting back to health thanks to the return of Rudy Gobert. The Wizards were without star point guard John Wall, but still had plenty of firepower to contend with Bradley Beal, Otto Porter, and Morris in the starting lineup.
While the aforementioned three all scored in double figures, along with spark plug Kelly Oubre Jr., the rest of the team fell flat, scoring only 22 points collectively in a 116-69 spanking at the hands of the Jazz.
“You can get your [tails] whupped and you’ll be okay. That’s when you lose by 15 or 20,” Morris said, according to Candace Buckner of The Washington Post. “But losing by 40? We’re not even fighting back.”
“They beat our [tails] times two.”
Beal, the starting shooting guard and one part of the dynamic backcourt duo with Wall, has now been asked to shoulder the majority of the offensive load in his teammate's absence, but struggled with his shot with a woeful 4-of-15 from the floor and 0-for-4 from deep.

The Jazz played Gobert in limited minutes during his first game back after missing three weeks with a tibia injury, but garnered most of their offensive combustion from rookie Donovan Mitchell's 21 points and bench hero Alec Burks, who racked up 27 points, his third consecutive 20-point game in the absence of Rodney Hood.
“They beat the s*** out of us,” Morris admitted. “But you know, just another game. We’re going to sleep on it and have another one tomorrow.”
