The Washington Wizards lost to the lowly Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday, and an old quote from Wizards forward Markieff Morris has resurfaced, and it's not a good look for Morris or Washington.
Back on December 5, the Wizards defeated the Hawks without point guard John Wall and small forward Jeff Green. After the game, Markieff Morris told reporters the team really didn't need Wall or Green to beat Atlanta, who currently has the worst record in the NBA.
Well, that quote has come back to bite Markieff Morris, as the Wizards lost to the Hawks on Tuesday with everyone in the lineup expect Dwight Howard, who is recovering from back surgery. Here's the quote from Dec. 5.

When Morris was asked if it's a confident booster for the #Wizards to win w/o Wall and Green, he replied:
"Somewhat but like I said no disrespect to the Hawks but I don’t think we need John or Jeff to beat them.”

Just when you think the Wizards' season can't get any worse, it does. There's no excuse for a team with two All-Stars on it and a good supporting cast to lose to the worst team in the NBA. Morris only scored seven points in 17 minutes. Wall had 15 points in 26 minutes, but shot just 6-of-18 from the field. Trevor Ariza made his Wizards debut and registered 19 points, eight rebounds and six steals, but it wasn't enough to beat Atlanta.
Washington is now 12-19 on the season and 4-13 on the road. Markieff Morris might want to watch what he says next time to reporters in the postgame locker room.
