Kevin Durant's spat with actor Michael Rapaport has developed into a full-blown social media controversy. Right now, it appears that the Brooklyn Nets are getting involved, with team head coach Steve Nash confirming that the organization is investigating the matter.

According to Nash, the Nets are already looking closely at the issue at hand (h/t Malika Andrews of ESPN):

This all started when Durant took exception to Rapaport's critical comments pertaining to a previous KD interview on Inside the NBA. Durant did not like how Rapaport called him out on social media for being “super sensitive,” which prompted the Nets star to slide into Rapaport's DM's. KD went on an all-out verbal assault on Rapaport, which incidentally, the actor shared on social media.

On Thursday, Durant went on the record to apologize for his use of profane language, saying how “that’s not really what I want people to hear and see from me.” Based on the leaked conversation between the pair, it appears that Rapaport has restored to legal action against Durant for the grave physical threats he made.

The Nets could no longer ignore the issue, which as it is, seems to have already grown out of proportion. If Durant is going to face any legal repercussions — if at all — then it would have a significant impact on his basketball career, at least in the short term.

Durant has been on the shelf for quite some time now as he continues to rehab a hamstring injury. The Nets have yet to provide a firm timetable on his return to action.
