Even though the majority of the attention has remained on the quarterback and wide receiver positions, with a little tight end sprinkled in due to the presence of former Florida Gators standout Kyle Pitts, there has been only one player that has emerged as the clear-cut top offensive lineman in the 2021 NFL Draft class throughout this entire process. With former Oregon Ducks offensive tackle Penei Sewell serving as that player from the start of the 2020-21 campaign, the talented offensive lineman is now a member of the Detroit Lions.

The Lions notably selected Penei Sewell with the No. 7 overall pick in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft on Thursday evening. The former Ducks standout will now begin gearing up to protect the blindside of quarterback Jared Goff. In a sea full of quarterbacks and wideouts, there was just no way that the Lions could pass up a player like Sewell, especially with Frank Ragnow under center.

The 20-year-old blocking extraordinaire is one of the few offensive lineman in this year's NFL Draft class that can come in and serve as a formidable presence up front. Penei Sewell will certainly be expected to do just that as a rookie — and then some. Standing at 6'5″ and just over 330 pounds, the up-and-coming offensive tackle surely has the size and ability to make an immediate impact atop the highest level.

A force for the Ducks from the jump, Penei Sewell quickly made some history by becoming the first true-freshman to start a season-opener for Oregon in 20 years before then becoming the first-ever sophomore to win the Outland Trophy.
