San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch recently admitted to not wanting to be on HBO's Hard Knocks. However, Los Angeles Chargers general manager Tom Telesco sees the benefits that come with being on camera.
The Chargers and 49ers are among the teams that are obligated to appear on the documentary series. Fortunately for Lynch, Telesco may be willing to take the burden off his hands, according to ESPN's Eric D. Williams

Am I comfortable asking our players and coaches to work every day with microphones and cameras on them? Not entirely; I just think that people work differently when you’re under the microscope like that being filmed. But that all being said, there’s some benefits beyond football to being on that show, and we’re pretty adaptable people here. If it so happens that we do it, then we’ll make it work and we’ll adapt to it. We shall see.”
There are a number of concerns coaches and executives have with providing cameras with such exclusive access. Among the primary issues, is that they often show footage of players being cut. However, it seems Telesco is excited at the prospect of filming their preparation for the 2018 NFL season.
The Chargers have received scathing criticism for their move from San Diego. Since then, they have largely played second-fiddle to the promising Los Angeles Rams. An appearance on Hard Knocks could be what they need to help garner more attention.
