The 3-4 Chicago Bears will have to find their way out of a two-game losing skid in Week 8 against the San Francisco 49ers at home without head coach Matt Nagy. The Bears released an official announcement Saturday, saying that Nagy, who tested positive for COVID-19 last Monday, is still quarantining and won't be on the sidelines when the Bears take on the Niners at Soldier Field.

The Bears are also giving special teams coordinator Chris Tabor temporary head-coaching powers for the Week 8 matchup.

Matt Nagy remains quarantined after testing positive for COVID-19 Monday and will not coach Sunday's home game against the 49ers, the Bears announced Saturday.

Special teams coordinator Chris Tabor will assume head-coaching duties for Sunday's contest at Soldier Field. Tabor, who is in his 14th season as an NFL assistant, ran practices this week at Halas Hall.

Chicago is looking to rebound from a 38-3 road loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 7. Prior to that, the Bears tasted a 24-14 defeat at the hands of the Green Bay Packers at home.

Nagy's seat has been steadily getting warmer each passing week, and the manner of how the Bears lost to the Buccaneers certainly didn't help his job security. But for now, the most important thing for Nagy is to recover from the virus and hope that by the time he gets back, the Bears will have a win to build on.
