When it comes to the future of Denver Broncos running back C.J. Andreson, general manager John Elway provided little clarity about the 27-year-old's status with the team going forward.

According to a tweet on Sunday by Mike Klis of News9 Denver, Elway opened up about Anderson's role with the Broncos for the 2018 NFL season and whether he would be back with the team during an interview at the NFL's owners meeting in Florida.

“He may or may not. Who knows? We’re going to continue to massage this thing, figure out what’s best,” Elway said. “C.J. obviously had a great year for us. We’ll see where it takes us. There’s a lot of moving parts when you talk about cap and type things.”

If the Broncos were to trade Anderson before the start of the season, it would clear up about $4.5 million in team cap space with no dead money. Back at the NFL Scouting Combine earlier this month, and just prior to cornerback Aqib Talib being traded to the Los Angeles Rams, Elway had a similar mindset of uncertainty regarding the futures of Talib and Anderson with Denver.

“We’ll see,’’ Elway said. “We’ll look at that. Like I said, we’re looking at every option that we can and where our football team is. I’m not saying they’ll be back for sure, but I’m not going to say they are gone. We’re exploring a lot of options on other players, too. That is what you do this time of year. It’s not just isolated to those two players.”

Anderson, who was signed as an undrafted free agent with Denver prior to the 2013 season, rushed for a career-high 1,007 yards on 245 carries last season and has scored 20 total touchdowns in his five seasons with the Broncos.
