Denver Broncos star Von Miller is expected to be sidelined for the entire 2020 season due to an ankle injury he suffered before Week 1. Despite it seeming like a longshot, Miller is still aiming for a return by year end.
In the week leading up to Denver's first game of the season, Miller would sustain a freak injury in practice. The All-Pro edge rusher would require surgery to repair a tendon in his ankle, likely putting him out for the entire season.
However, Miller is holding out hope that he could make a valiant comeback in December. As per reports from CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora, a source close to the situation isn't going to rule out the idea of Miller playing for the Broncos this season.
“It may be a longshot, but you never know with Von,” said one source with knowledge of the situation. “He is a freak athlete, and he is very focused on doing everything he can to get back in December.”
The Broncos had lofty expectations entering the 2020 campaign with Miller and Bradley Chubb getting to play together again. Chubb tore his ACL in 2019, preventing the two talented pass rushers from suiting up side by side for an entire year.
Sadly, Miller's injury will cause Chubb to attempt to produce a stellar season without his running mate. At the same time, Miller's absence calls for Denver's entire defense to step up and replace his immense production.
There's no denying the fact that Miller is one of the best edge rushers to ever play in the NFL. And even though it seems like a pipe dream at this point, the future Hall of Famer is going to do everything he can to play for the Broncos in 2020.
