New Atlanta Falcons running back Todd Gurley took April Fool's Day off this year, but it didn't stop him from laughing at Denver Broncos star linebacker Von Miller's own social-media shenanigans.
Miller, 31, an eight-time Pro Bowl stud on defense, shared a graphic on Instagram on the first of April telling his followers he had been released by his longtime Broncos. It was obviously a prank, but 25-year-old former Los Angeles Rams star rusher Gurley responded in turn since it reminded him of his own predicament with the NFC West franchise.
“I was going to do the same thing this year but I [got] released two weeks ago,” Gurley commented on Miller's Instagram post.

Gurley, the face of the Rams, was abruptly released in mid-March and later signed as a free agent with the Falcons, who inked the one-time Offensive Player of the Year to a one-year deal worth reportedly $6 million. The former 10th-overall pick of the 2015 NFL Draft was a three-time Pro-Bowler with L.A. and traveled with the relocated club from St. Louis, twice leading the league in rushing touchdowns.
Since then, however, franchise quarterback Jared Goff, an ex-first overall pick for the Rams, has changed the make-up of L.A.'s offense as head coach Sean McVay delivers a pass-first attack, leaving Gurley underutilized.
Miller, a Super Bowl winner with the Broncos back in 2015-16, signed a massive six-year, $114.5 million extension with Denver in July of 2016, so the AFC West club releasing him would be on par as shocking as when the Rams released Gurley, although the signs were present that Gurley was an afterthought for L.A.
