The Detroit Lions have a long road ahead before becoming competitive, but they seem to be on the right track. With two first-round selections, this franchise can make some noise and add some legitimate talent to the roster. We take a look at our three bold Lions predictions with the 2022 NFL Draft in mind.
This team needs help on both sides of the ball, but it's not as bad as it sounds. The Lions have exciting skills players in D'Andre Swift, Amon-Ra St. Brown, and TJ Hockenson. Furthermore, the offensive line is solid and there are some decent players on the defensive side of the ball as well. Now is the time for Detroit to load up the roster and set themselves up for success down the road.
We should see a balanced approach from the Lions in the draft.
Lions Predictions for the 2022 NFL Draft
3. The front office selects a talented receiver in the second round
Detroit has the 34th pick overall, which is the second pick of round two. There should be some talented receivers on the board, which bodes well for the Lions. Amon-Ra St. Brown burst onto the scene and is likely the top target next season, but adding another weapon in the passing game will only help this offense.

Depending on how the draft goes, the Lions could be looking at drafting guys like George Pickens, Jahan Dotson, or Skyy Moore. Each of them is a great option for this offense, as Detroit would immediately improve with one of them on the roster. Look for the front office to add some offensive firepower in the second round of the NFL Draft.
2. Detroit trades back the 32nd overall pick for future assets in 2023
Although it would be nice to see the Lions take a legitimate prospect with the 32nd pick overall, the front office should consider trading back. The ideal scenario would be for Detroit to acquire some draft capital in 2023. This gives this franchise multiple draft selections in what is deemed to be a stronger class.

We'll see how the NFL Draft plays out, but the Lions should highly consider acquiring more draft picks in 2023 as well. Detroit is in a great position to build their roster similarly to the Miami Dolphins, as that front office has acquired a ton of draft picks. Now, Miami is in fantastic shape heading into the 2022 season. Maybe we see Detroit take a page out of that playbook.
1. Lions select one of the top edge rushers in the NFL Draft
It really doesn't matter who the Jacksonville Jaguars take first overall. Regardless of how it plays out, the Lions will be able to select one Aidan Hutchinson, Kayvon Thibodeaux, or Travon Walker. They can't really go wrong with either of these prospects as each of them will bring the heat on defense.
The ideal selection for the Lions is Aidan Hutchinson. He's a powerhouse edge rusher who has the potential of becoming the face of a franchise. That is something Detroit is lacking right now, as there isn't a deeming star to arise yet. However, all of that can change in the 2022 NFL Draft as this franchise hopes to get on the winning track for once.
