There have are questions about Detroit Lions cornerback Darius Slay's future with the team but he has made it very clear he wants to stay and even sign a long term contract.
Slay is still under contract for next season, and will be with the team as long as they don't ship him off.
“I always expect to be here,” Slay said via Carlos Monarrez of the Detroit Free Press, “because you sign a contract to be here, dah, dah, dah, dah. But you never know. Just like I said, you never know.”
Slay also wants it known that he thinks he deserves the long term extension now. He missed much of the last offseason trying to get a new contract. There is a chance he could do the same offseason.

The Lions defense has struggled in 2019, but Slay has acted as one of the bright spots and the team would be making a mistake moving on from him.
Slay also said that he expects improvements out of the team because they are getting a better feel for coach Matt Patricia.
“Of course. It’s the fact that some of us that have been here with Patricia going on two years, gonna be three, so we’ve got a better understanding of him as a coach and what he wants as in his programs,” said Slay.
The Lions have a lot of big decisions to make this offseason including what they want to do with Slay.
