The Detroit Lions have had a serious problem at the tight end position for many years and the team may be looking to resolve this issue in the 2019 draft. Unfortunately, watching former first round pick Eric Ebron have a career season with the Indianapolis Colts has to be a hard pill to swallow.

Lions general manager Bob Quinn is not opposed to trying to find a tight end in the first round again in this year's draft.

“I think we take every pick seriously. If it’s a player that’s worthy of the eighth overall pick, and he happens to be a tight end, then I’m not against that.”

Quinn's job has been in question with Detroit's recent woes, but the team can hope to turn things around in this season's draft and maybe acquire some players in free agency. The Lions have made it clear that their future relies on quarterback Matthew Stafford and if they hope to make the most out of his career they'll need to provide him with some weapons on offense.

The direction the team is going in is unclear considering they traded their most solid receiver since Calvin Johnson after dealing Golden Tate to the Philadelphia Eagles. A solid move was trading for Damon Harrison to address the defensive struggles, but trading Tate was a head-scratcher considering the team's needs on offense.

Detroit should either buy or sell at this point, but they have left spectators wondering exactly what their current identity is.
