Brett Favre, the face of the NFL in the 1990s, played his way into the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame.

Enshrined into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, OH in 2016, the legendary quarterback started an NFL-record 297 consecutive games—321 including the postseason—in his storied career. The three-time MVP and 11-time Pro Bowler led the league in TD passes four times and spent 20 seasons (1991-2010) in the NFL.

Here is a look at Favre’s five greatest moments from his tenure with the Packers, which spanned from 1992-2007.

5. TD Pass to Antonio Freeman Stuns Vikings in OT on MNF

When: Nov 6, 2002

In one of the craziest finishes in “Monday Night Football” history, Favre beat the rival Minnesota Vikings with a walk-off 40-yard touchdown pass in overtime to Antonio Freeman.

On the winning play, the Vikings blitzed Favre, forcing the QB to lob a pass up to Freeman. Vikings defensive back Chris Dishman deflected the pass and thought he knocked the ball to the ground.

Unbeknownst to seemingly everyone watching or playing in the game, the ball knocked off Freeman’s back after the deflection and the wide receiver ran into the end zone to give the Packers a dramatic 26-20 victory.

Dishman celebrated after making what seemed like a terrific defensive stop, but as luck had it, the ball ended up in Freeman’s possession and the rest was history.

Favre compiled 235 yards and two TDs in the win.

4. Third Consecutive MVP

When: 1997

Favre was at his peak in the mid-90s. He was named First-Team All-Pro in 1995, ’96 and ’97. He led the league in TD passes in all three seasons.

Even more incredible, Favre earned Most Valuable Player honors in each of those seasons, becoming the first player in league history to capture three straight NFL MVPs.

In 1995, Favre also registered the most passing yards and threw 38 touchdowns against 13 interceptions. He followed that up with a 39-touchdown season in 1996, and then threw for 35 scores in 1997.

Peyton Manning holds the record for most MVPs (5). Favre, Tom Brady, Johnny Unitas and Jim Brown are tied for second, with each player earning the honors three times.

3. Wild-Card Win Gives Packers First Playoff Victory in 11 Years

When: January 8, 1994 (1993 NFC Wild-Card Game)

The Packers earned a playoff berth in 1993, their first since the 1982 season.

Playing on the road in the Wild-Card Round, Favre came through in the clutch in his first-ever postseason contest to defeat the Detroit Lions.

With the Packers trailing 24-21, Favre threw a 40-yard TD to Sterling Sharpe with just over a minute remaining in the fourth quarter.

This turned out to be the winning score as Favre, who fired three TDs, spearheaded Green Bay to its first postseason victory in 11 seasons.

2. Dominating for Dad: Favre Lights up Raiders Day After Father’s Death

When: Dec 22, 2003

Just one day after losing his father, Irvin, Favre suited up for a “Monday Night Football” game against the Oakland Raiders. Irvin died of a heart attack the night before.

In an emotional game for the famed QB, Favre delivered one of the greatest performances of his career.

A teary-eyed Favre completed 22-of-30 passes for 399 yards and four TDs in a 41-7 blowout win for the visiting Packers.

1. Winning Super Bowl XXXI

When: January 26, 1997

Favre led the Packers to the team’s first championship in 29 years with a 35–21 win over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XXXI.

While Favre did not win Super Bowl MVP—that honor went to return specialist Desmond Howard—the quarterback played well to secure his lone NFL title.

While he completed just 14-of-27 passes for 247 yards, he threw two TDs and added a rushing touchdown.

The Super Bowl XXXI victory crowned the Packers the champions of the 1996 season.

Green Bay had not won the Super Bowl since 1967.
