Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers wants to avoid surgery as much as possible, but given the nature of his toe injury, he understands that there's a possibility he has to undergo procedure.

Rodgers has been dealing with a fractured pinky toe since he was in the COVID-19 list heading into Week 9. While the Packers had a bye in Week 13, he opted not to undergo surgery at the time.

Unfortunately in Week 14 against the Chicago Bears, the veteran QB suffered a setback that made his toe injury worse. He was unable to practice with the team Wednesday, and he acknowledged the harsh reality he is facing while dealing with the issue.

“It’d be nice to avoid that,” Rodgers said, per Fox 6. “Can’t avoid a lot of the stuff that happens on gameday, but you can do your best during the week (and) hope for the healing that we need. We’re getting later in the weeks since the initial injury, so it’d be nice to really have some final healing.

“But there’s always going to be potential setbacks when I’m playing on it. If we can have a week where we avoid any major ones, I think we can kind of get past this. But if there’s some major setbacks, then surgery’s always kind of lurking there. It’s just not desirable for myself or any of the people that I’ve consulted with.”

In his postgame presser after their win over the Bears last Sunday, Aaron Rodgers admitted that surgery is his “last resort.” With that said, it's more likely for the Packers superstar to rest his toe and take a more conservative approach in his recovery.

Nonetheless, the Packers will certainly hope that he doesn't suffer any setback. To recall, he did tell reporters recently that he would probably need surgery if someone steps on his foot. Yikes!
