Brett Favre may be retired, but that does not mean that he isn't a fan of the Green Bay Packers. Despite all of the drama with the franchise at the end of his playing career, Favre has gotten back into the good graces of fans in Green Bay. That will continue after fans hear about his latest comments about the Packers.
On his Sirius XM radio show, Favre talked about the Packers' struggles this season but made it clear that he would not count them out just yet.
“I would not rule out the Packers until mathematically they are ruled out, only because Aaron Rodgers is the quarterback. I know they got other good players and they are well-coached, but [Rodgers] alone give them some serious credibility. You can never overlook them. The record kinda sucks right now and I know that Packers fans hate it but you still got 12.”
Green Bay currently has a 3-4-1 record after their loss on Sunday night against the New England Patriots. It was a disappointing loss, but the Packers have shown the ability to go on big runs to finish seasons in the past with Rodgers leading the charge.
Article Continues BelowOver the past two weeks, the Packers have shown a lot more competitiveness. They were nearly able to knock off the Los Angeles Rams two weeks back, who were undefeated at the time. New England is no slouch either and the Packers played them close until the final minutes.
Rodgers is one of the best quarterbacks to ever play the game. Having that kind of leader should keep the Packers in contention until the mathematics say otherwise, as Favre said.
Expect to see the Packers come out looking to prove a point this week against the Miami Dolphins at Lambeau Field. Rodgers and company know that this week is a must-win game and that should translate to a much more desperate and aggressive performance.
