To the surprise of fans of the Green Bay Packers, Jordan Love was the name announced by the Packers with the No. 26 pick of the 2020 NFL Draft. While it was an unpopular choice among many, legendary cornerback Deion Sanders doesn't have an issue with the selection.
“I like it,” Sanders told Rich Eisen on Thursday. “You have to understand you have a quarterback that’s going to turn 40 in a couple years. And you think it’s absurd to start thinking about a replacement? This is the only position where that is an insult.”
Earlier this week, Hall of Fame quarterback and former Packers quarterback Brett Favre exclaimed that he believes Rodgers wasn't a fan of the decision to select Love. Regardless of whether that is true or not, Favre took it a step further and said he thinks Rodgers will end his career elsewhere.
For the past 12 seasons, Rodgers has been the starting quarterback for the Packers. Of course, after sitting behind Favre for three years, Rodgers overtook the job in 2008. As a result, Favre continued his career elsewhere while Rodgers became his heir apparent in Green Bay.
Now, with the Packers taking Love in the first round, many believe the same could happen to Rodgers. Rodgers, who turns 37 years old later this year, has made it clear he would prefer to finish his career in Green Bay. However, with Love behind him, the Packers could have other plans.
Article Continues BelowMany fans and the media alike have questioned the selection of Love, wondering why the team took him if Rodgers is their guy for the next few years. Despite the uproar with the pick, Sanders understands where the Packers are coming from.
