Green Bay made it no secret that they were looking to shore up their cornerbacks and wide receivers through the draft. They were able to reach a deal with the Seattle Seahawks to move up and take Alexander with the 18th overall pick.
The former Louisville product enjoyed a stellar college career with 77 tackles and seven interceptions en route to garnering second-team All-ACC honors in 2016. However, his draft stock increased dramatically thanks to a great showing at the Scouting Combine. That said, he should have no problem finding a role in under new defensive coordinator Mike Pettine's scheme.
Alexander is not the only cornerback the Packers scooped up in the draft. They also used their second-rounder to take former Iowa cornerback Josh Jackson. He led the nation with eight interceptions last season and was projected to go as high as the first round despite his small sample size in college. Fortunately, he slipped to the Packers and they wasted no time in using another pick to fortify the secondary.
