There has been plenty of speculation regarding where Ole Miss wide receiver D.K. Metcalf will go in the 2019 NFL Draft. It seems the Green Bay Packers are among the teams that may be interested in taking him in the first round.
The consensus seems to be split on where Metcalf will ultimately land. According to Bleacher Report's Matt Miller, Green Bay has not ruled out using their first pick on him.
Metcalf should be a Round 2 player, but no one I've spoken with will disregard rumors that the Buffalo Bills or Green Bay Packers could make him a top-15 pick.
Metcalf did not put up the strongest body of work in college. Fortunately, his historic performance at the NFL Scouting Combine has helped boost his draft stock tremendously. Teams are obviously enamored with his rare blend of size and speed. Regardless, he still remains as perhaps the biggest high-risk, high-reward player in his class.
The Packers have invested some late picks to help shore up their depth in the receiving corps last year. However, none of them were firmly able to establish themselves as a consistent, viable option in the passing game. Considering the all the significant changes that have been made in Green Bay this offseason, new head coach Matt LaFleur could be inclined to add as much firepower to the offense as he can.
It will be interesting to see whether or not the Packers are among the teams that ultimately decide to take a chance on Metcalf's skill set.
